Sometimes a sensor or the device connected to it might stop working, generally this is because that particular sensor is battery powered and the battery needs replacing. So firstly we need to check if the sensors is battery powered and if the battery is flat.
- Go and look at the sensor concerned, if it is connected to the power, then we do not need to worry about the battery. If there is no power cable then we need to check that sensor's battery status.
- Open the Nifty app and navigate to
- In the '' section, you can scroll to see the sensors listed
- Select the sensor you are concerned with. The naming of the sensors is straightforward. I.e. the sensor for the lights at the front door will be called 'Front door sensor'
- Once you have selected the sensor then look at the battery status, there will be a coloured indicator and a %. If the % is 10% we recommend changing the battery.
- Return to the sensor and carefully remove it from its location. They will tend to pop out fairly easily.
- Once open you will be able to see the battery, remove the old battery and replace with a new one.
- Once you have replaced the battery, replace the cover on the sensor and turn your app off. Wait 5 minutes for the system to reintegrate the sensor into the network. Generally this will only take a few seconds for this to happen but we like to be careful.
- Turn the app back on and navigate to the sensor concerned, the battery life indicator should now display 100% with a green battery
- Try the action that the sensor is supposed to carry out. I.e. if it is to turn the front door lights on when the door opens, then please do that.
- If they work, then you have resolved the issue. If they still do not and it is a battery driven sensor then we can try other techniques to reset the sensor.
