Setting up the Nifty (Openhab) App

openHAB

Nifty smart homes can be controlled using the openHAB App.

The App is available on any smartphone through either the App Store (Apple) or Google Play Store (Android). You can also control your home using any internet browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera etc), either locally (on your internal network) or remotely (via the internet when away from home)

Download / Install

Either click below or search "openHAB" in the App store on your device

App Login

Make sure you are currently connected to your homes WiFi (after setup you will be able to connect remotely)
Open the openHAB


Click Menu (top right)


Click Settings (bottom right)


Turn off Demo mode (if on)


Enter the "OPENHAB CONNECTION details below (replace with your email and password) then click save

Username:
Password:

Download / Install

Either click below or search "openHAB" in the Google Play store on your device

App Login - Local Setup (Automatic)

Make sure you are currently connected to your homes WiFi (after setup you will be able to connect remotely)
Open the openHAB


When you first open the App you will be presented with a welcome screen with tips. Just click "skip" (bottom left).


The App may then try and configure a local connection for you (depends on your WiFi connection). If so you will be presented with a series of pop-up for security certificates. Click "Accept" on all screens.

If the connection was successful you will be presented with a screen to select a default Sitemap. Click "Nifty Home"

If this worked you will be presented with your home screen so you can skip the next step and go to App Login - Remote Setup if not please continue.

App Login - Local Setup (Manual)

If for some reason the App did not correctly setup the connection you will have to set it up manually.
Click the menu item (top left)


Click setting (top left)


Make sure Demo mode is switched "off" then click "Add server"

Click "Local"

Click "Local server URL" and in the popup box type the following and click "OK":
 

App Login - Remote Setup (Allows connection outside your home)

Make sure you are currently connected to your home WiFi (after setup you will be able to connect remotely)
Click the menu item (top left)


Click "Settings" (top left)

Click "Server openHAB"


Click "Remote"


Click "Remote server URL" and enter the following and click "OK":

Enter your username which is usually your email address followed by the password provided to you from Nifty or your Landlord
Click the menu item (top left)

Click "Nifty Home"


From now on the App will open your controls automatically and connect locally or remotely as required.

Open your favourite website browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc) and bookmark the following links:
