Step 1: Download the Alexa App
- Download and install the Alexa app on your mobile device.
- Set up your Alexa device following the on-screen instructions.
Step 2: Enable the Home Assistant Skill in the Alexa App
- Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
- Navigate to Settings > Skills & Games.
- Search for the Home Assistant skill and enable it.
- Sign in using the Nifty cloud subscription details sent to you to link it to Alexa.
- Once linked, you can ask Alexa to discover devices connected to your Home Assistant system.
Step 3: Set Up Devices to Be Controlled by Alexa
- After linking the accounts, you can ask Alexa to discover devices or tap the Discover Devices button in the app.
- Wait for Alexa to find your Home Assistant devices.
Step 4: Control Devices with Alexa
- Once the devices are discovered, you can control your Home Assistant devices with Alexa by simply saying commands like:
- “Alexa, turn on the lights.”
- “Alexa, set the thermostat to 21 degrees.”
Troubleshooting
- If devices don’t appear in Alexa after setup, try saying, “Alexa, discover devices.”
- Ensure that your Home Assistant instance is running and your Nifty cloud subscription is active.
